For the second time this week, someone was pulled from the water at Sand Harbor at Lake Tahoe.

The latest incident happened on Wednesday just before 1:45 p.m. Deputies say a 19-year-old man was swimming near the boat ramp towards some rocks when he yelled he needed help to nearby friends. Before friends could reach him, the victim went under the water’s surface.

An off-duty nurse eventually pulled him out of the water. The North Lake Tahoe Fire Protection District provided medical treatment to the teen before he was flown by Care Flight to Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno in critical condition.

Deputies say a different person drowned in the divers’ cove late Monday afternoon.

The victim’s name still hasn’t been released and circumstances surrounding that drowning remain unknown.
