Chemical Spill Closes Highway 395 in Mono County

Posted: Updated:
The California Highway Patrol and Mono County Sheriff's Office report that a chemical spill has closed a portion of Highway 395, and forced three to seek medical treatment for exposure to hazardous waste.

According to officials, at around 7:23 a.m. on July 26th, a big rig carrying several hazardous materials had a tank burst while driving southbound on 395 to the south of Bridgeport, spilling material on the road and forcing a road closure.

Just before 11 a.m. officials reported that they expect the closure to last several more hours as crews clean up the spilled material. Officers say that 3 people involved in the incident showed symptoms of exposure to the chemical and had to be medically treated.
