Santa and Mrs. Claus rode into the Gospel Mission with style on a motorcycle to kick off the annual Christmas in July event! The line wrapped around the building as everyone received a nice, warm holiday meal, with turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing and green beans.
Gospel Mission volunteers also gave Christmas gifts to children, and everyone received hygiene kits and sunscreen to help them deal with the extreme heat of the summer.
"We forget that this time of year, people that are out on the street are still suffering," said Joan Grover, Director of Communications for RSGM. "There's still things going on out there, especially with the heat being so bad."
Many were grateful for Christmas in July.
"It's a help to have a place like this to help people with a helping hand because some of us really need it," said Tony Hart of Los Angeles. "I really appreciate it."
The Reno-Sparks Gospel Mission is always looking for volunteers and donations. If you'd like to help, call the number on your screen at (775) 323-0386.
