Andrew Chafin pitched into the eighth inning and held the Salt Lake Bees to one unearned run in the Reno Aces’ 4-1 road win Tuesday night at Smith’s Ballpark.

Chafin allowed just the one unearned run on six hits through 7 2/3 innings, and struck out four batters without surrendering a walk. He started the game by retiring 11 of the first 12 batters he faced.

Reno got on the board in the fourth inning when Bobby Wilson doubled to right field, scoring Mike Jacobs from first base.

Salt Lake’s lone run came in the sixth inning. After Chafin struck out former Ace Tony Campana to start the inning, a single and an error put runners on first and second.

C.J. Cron was able to capitalize on the error, when he singled to center to score J.B. Shuck.

With the game tied at one, Mike Freeman led off the eighth inning with a triple to right field. After Garrett Weber walked, Jordan Pacheco recorded his first RBI with Reno on a single up the middle.

Roger Kieschnick bunted for a base hit to load the bases in the next at-bat, and Andy Marte and Jacobs followed with back-to-back sacrifice flies to cap the scoring for Reno.

Chafin’s start was his second in his last five in which he didn’t allow an earned run. The win improved his record with the Aces to 4-4.

Jake Barrett worked the ninth inning for his fourth Triple-A save of the season.

Weber singled to lead off the game, extending his hit streak to 12 games, which ties him with Nick Ahmed and Campana for the longest streak for an Aces player this season. He and Wilson were the only two Reno players to record two hits in the game
