Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Lyon, Storey, Washoe Counties

The National Weather Service in Reno has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for northwestern Lyon County, eastern Storey County and southeastern Washoe County until 6:30 p.m.

At 5:42 p.m., National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated a severe thunderstorm capable of producing quarter hail and damaging winds in excess of 60mph. This storm was located 12 miles south of Patrick – or 9 miles northeast of Virginia City – and moving north at 20 mph.

Locations affected include Interstate 80 between Patrick and Fernley, Tahoe-Reno Industrial Center, Wadsworth, Fernley, Virginia Peak and Derby Dam. This storm will also affect Interstate 80 between mile markers 29 and 46.
