Online originality checking and grading service helps CSU promote academic integrity across 22 campuses; anticipates triple digit growth
OAKLAND, Calif., July 22, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Turnitin, the leader in originality checking and online grading, today announced triple digit growth at California State University (CSU) campuses using the Turnitin service. Instructors at CSU campuses generated in excess of 1.4 million Originality Reports in 2013, a 142% growth rate since 2010. By the end of 2013 CSU instructors graded over 834,000 student papers online using Turnitin-543% growth rate during the same period.
The California State University system is the largest and most diverse university system in the United States. With 23 campuses, nearly 447,000 students and 45,000 faculty and staff, CSU awards nearly half of all bachelor's degrees and one-third of all master's degrees in the entire state of California.
Like many State university systems nationwide, CSU has looked to centralize software purchases to standardize instruction and realize cost savings. The CSU Chancellor's Office signed a system-wide agreement to offer Turnitin to all its campuses in 2010; 22 of the 23 campuses have opted to use the service.
