Driver gets probation in crash that electrocuted 2

LOS ANGELES (AP) - A Southern California man has been sentenced to three years' probation for a car wreck that led to the electrocution of two people who tried to help him.

Los Angeles County prosecutors said Wednesday that 21-year-old Arman Samsonian, of Glendale, will also have to perform 70 days of community service and spend a day working at the county morgue.

Authorities say that in August 2012, Samsonian was speeding and driving in a left-turn lane in a rush to get to the gym when he lost control and hit a fire hydrant. Two good Samaritans who tried to help him stepped in water electrified by a toppled light pole.

Samsonian pleaded no contest to vehicular manslaughter in May.

The judge says Samsonian will go to prison if he commits another vehicular violation while on probation.
