I hope you have some time this weekend…because there are a lot of Things 2 Do! From art shows to concerts and from picnics to campfire programs there are quite a few family friendly events to get to. You can hear the Reno Phil, the Reno Pops Orchestra, jazz singers and Romanian music all in one weekend. Enjoy!

Friday 7/11

Free Slurpees at all 7-Elevens!

This is the one day of the year that you can cash in on a free small Slurpee…all flavors all day.

Street Food in the Idlewild Park

The food trucks will assemble at Idlewild Park from 5 p.m.-9 p.m.

Shakespeare Festival at Sand Harbor

Every year they put the Bard on the shores of beautiful Lake Tahoe. The show starts at sundown.

Wheels, Trains and Rocket Planes - Artown Concert

The Reno Pops Orchestra will be playing at 7:30 at the Hawkins Amphitheater at Bartley Ranch

Taylor Creek Visitor Center's Campfire Friday, 7pm

They will be holding programs every Friday night. Tonight’s program is called a 'Night with Mark Twain.' It starts at 7 p.m.

Galena Creek Visitor Center’s Campfire Friday, 7:30-9 p.m.

Go to Eagle Meadows at Galena Creek Recreation Area for the campfire show. This year they are partnering with Silver State Young Chautauqua

Friends of Washoe County Book Sale

Saturday 7/12

Water & Rails Pond and Garden Tour

It’s a wonderful tour of fabulous gardens with ponds and trails and railroads. There are 25 stops on this year's tour and all of the proceeds go to the Nevada ALS to help local patients and their families.

Truckee Tahoe Air Show, 8 a.m.- 5 p.m.

Aerobatics and a celebration of women in aviation are all a part of this year’s family-friendly show at the Truckee Tahoe Airport.

Stay Afloat River Safety Fair 10 a.m.- 3 p.m.

Every year the Truckee River Foundation spends a day helping keep kids stay safe in the water. They use the Whitewater Park for the classes which are free. They also hand out equipment including helmets, life jackets and water shoes. It starts at 10 a.m.

Pirate Crawl

Watch for pirates in downtown Reno Saturday night. The Pirate Crawl starts at 8 pm at the Harrah’s Plaza.

Yart Sale in Southwest Reno to benefit VSA

About 20 artists are signed up for this year’s YART Sale. It’s a combination of yard sales in Old Southwest Reno and Art sales. All proceeds go to the Very Special Arts program. 1420 Monroe.

Art in the Garden Monroe in southwest Reno

The Friends of the Washoe County Library put this show on every year at 1280 Monroe. It involves local artists with jewelry, pottery, furniture and garden pieces. It goes from 9 a.m.-4 p.m.

Roses and floral art at the McKinley Arts and Culture Center, Reno

The Reno Rose Society will hold a design show and workshops at the McKinley Arts and Culture Center

Pawspective animal art at the Nevada Humane Society 4-7 pm

Live music, food and artwork.

Romania Festival at St. Anthony’s Greek Church

A celebration of Romania with food, music, dancing from 11 a.m.-9 p.m.

Sunday 7/13

Caughlin Ranch Concert on the Green

4549 Village Green Parkway will be the place to be on Sunday evening for the Ron Savage Jazz Trio. It’s a free concert on the green…and it goes from 6-8 pm.

Jakki Ford Alive and Swinging, 7:30 pm Wingfield Park

Local jazz singer Jakki Ford will be singing for Artown at Wingfield Park starting at 7:30 p.m.

Revolution on the River

This is a celebration of Bastille Day and it will be all along the banks of the Truckee River this Sunday. They will center the activities along Riverside Drive from noon-5 p.m. There will be music, but BYOP…Bring your own picnic.
