Pirate Crawl Brings in Doubloons

Posted: Updated:
Downtown Reno may soon look like a scene straight out of Disney’s “Pirates of the Caribbean.”

Saturday night is the ‘Pirate Crawl,’ where hundreds are expected to dress up and descend into downtown and Midtown Reno.

“Reno really loves to dress up,” said Jessica Schneider, Owner of Junkee clothing Exchange. “It’s for all ages, 21 and up, and we have plenty of cups and costumes.”

The pirate crawl has been going on for a few years. Over 20 bars and establishments are expected to participate Saturday night.

You can buy a cup for $5. That cup gives you drink specials.

Schneider says crawls in general provide a big economic boost for the region. There is the Santa Crawl, the Vampire Crawl, and much more.

“They’re starting to come to the hotel rooms,” said Schneider. “That’s good for our economy. Crawls really help the people who need to be tipped, waitresses, and bartenders. People are coming from all over for Reno’s pub crawls.”
