The Nevada Department of Wildlife says it euthanized a black bear this week that had become too comfortable with people living near Lake Tahoe.

The 3-year-old male bear was seen walking on the beach at Glenbrook on Tuesday.

Wildlife officials say the bear was darted at the lake and then chemically euthanized in Reno on Wednesday.

NDOW says the bear was put down because it wasn't acting like a wild animal and was climbing on cars and trying to enter homes. NDOW says it was previously caught in 2011 in Carson City.

Just this month, NDOW has captured and released five other bears that wandered into neighborhoods.

To report bear sightings, call the Department of Wildlife's hotline at 688-2327.
