Los Angeles man convicted of role in drug ring

TRENTON, N.J. (AP) - A Los Angeles man has been convicted of numerous charges for his role in a transcontinental narcotics network that conducted its operations in New Jersey.

Acting New Jersey Attorney General John Hoffman says 52-year-old Carlos Marroquin was convicted of two counts of conspiracy and single counts of cocaine possession, possession with intent to distribute and money laundering. He faces several decades in prison when he's sentenced Aug. 26.

Authorities say Marroquin was part of a narcotics network that utilized an apartment in Hackensack and a warehouse in Metuchen to conduct its operations.

The network was dismantled in 2012 when the New Jersey state police executed search warrants for a truck and other vehicles at the warehouse in Metuchen and seized 40 kilos of cocaine and over $1 million in cash.
