Marijuana Grow-Op Found in Hawthorne

Posted: Updated:

Deputies in Mineral County say they found 18 marijuana plants in the backyard of a Hawthorne home Tuesday night.

According to the Mineral County Sheriff, they responded to a domestic disturbance at a home on F Street in Hawthorne with a man who may have had a gun. When deputies arrived, they say they found John Hunt who had assaulted his brother who is physically handicapped.

Hunt gave deputies permission to search the home, where they say they found drug paraphernalia as well as a grow light and marijuana leaf. Deputies went to search an outbuilding for a possible weapon and say they found 18 marijuana plants in the backyard in plain sight.

Hunt was arrested and is currently being booked into the Mineral County Jail.

This bust comes after deputies found 35 marijuana plants and two opium plants at a home on Towe Road in Hawthorne on July 4th.
