The National Weather Service is reporting several thunderstorms across parts of Northern Nevada right now.

At 3:16pm, a NWS meteorologist tracked a strong stationary thunderstorm four miles west of Fort Churchill station, or 16 miles east of Virginia City.

The NWS reports occasional lightning, heavy rain with amounts near one inch per hour, small pea size hail and gusty winds up to 40 miles per hour with areas of blowing dust are possible with this storm.

Locations affected include Highway 50, Fort Churchill Station, Silver Springs, Stagecoach and Silver Springs airport.

NWS says during a thunderstorm, seek shelter inside a sturdy structure and stay away from windows. Hikers and campers should seek shelter in a vehicle if possible.
