TSA to Raise Passenger Security Fees

Posted: Updated:
If you're flying this summer get ready to pay more. The Transportation Security Administration is raising passenger security fees effective July 21 at U.S. airports.

The fees help fund TSA airport security efforts.

Right now air travelers are paying $2.50 for each plane they take to get to a destination.

The fee is capped at two plane rides each way.

But starting on the 21st, the TSA will start charging a flat fee of $5.60 each way, no matter how many planes you board en route.

Congress approved the higher fees as part of its bi-partisan budget deal last December.
