Wildfire in Minnehaha Canyon Fully Contained

Posted: Updated:
Sierra Front says a grass fire, sparked by fireworks in southern Douglas County, was fully contained late Monday night.

The fire had been burning on private property in Minnehaha Canyon, north of Topaz Lake.

Investigators say it appears to have been caused by residents setting off fireworks on the night of July 4th. The fire was not reported until July 5th.

No structures were threatened, but two firefighters had to be evacuated from the area after suffering heat-related injuries on Saturday, and two more were released from the fire for minor knee injuries on Sunday.
