Automotive Business Increases Ahead of Fourth of July Holiday

Posted: Updated:
This is a huge holiday weekend for traveling. And that means some big business for car mechanics.

Business has been busy at Roy Foster's Automotive on Keystone Avenue.
“Air conditioning, general tune ups, cooling systems, quite a variety,” says Foster.

That's right - from small jobs adjusting parts to replacing major ones, mechanics have been working non-stop today.

“It's the time of year people are getting ready to travel and they bring in their cars for last-minute work, and the heat adds to that too. Once it hits a hundred we see an increase in business.”

AAA estimates three million people in the Northern California and Nevada region will be traveling at least 50 miles this weekend. That's a lot of cars. To be ready for the road, Foster has had the eight bays at his shop full all week long.

"Had the air conditioner fixed and the door locks...all ready for the weekend!,” says customer Rick Bell.

About 25 other cars will also be finished up by the end of the day and ready for the open road.
