Man Arrested After Allegedly Wielding Large Knife Inside Sparks Store

Sparks Police have a man in custody after they say he tried to rob a 7-Eleven in Sparks Tuesday evening.

Police say 38-year-old Johnnie Ironcloud entered the store on Pyramid Way around 6 p.m. and was acting in a "bizarre fashion." Police say he asked for a cab and then said he was "losing it" and asked staff to call 911. While staff was on the phone with 911 dispatchers the man grabbed a bottle of alcohol and began drinking it, according to police. They say during that time, Ironcloud pulled out a large kitchen or butcher knife and began to wield it toward staff and store patrons, eventually corralling them behind a counter. During this time, Sparks Police Dispatch directed staff to evacuate the store. While that was being done officers entered the store and took Ironcloud into custody. 

Irouncloud is being held in the Washoe County Jail on charged with Robbery with a Deadly Weapon. His bail is set at $40,000.

No one was injured during the incident.

    The list of legal problems for the Washoe School District grew this morning as the State Attorney General's Office filed six counts each against the six trustees involved in the Pedro Martinez suit. But The School Board's outside counsel says he began working on settlement in that matter since last Wednesday and able to file it immediately.
