Body Found May Be Missing Silver Springs Man

Posted: Updated:
The Lyon County Sheriff's Office has found a body that may be connected to a missing person investigation.

Deputies say 23-year old Mark Olivas-Antillon of Silver Springs was reported missing Sunday after he went camping at Lahontan State Park.

The Washoe County Sheriff's Office helped Lyon County and park crews in the search for Olivas-Antillon who told his family he was going camping with his two horses on Friday.

He was supposed to come back on Saturday, but it wasn't until Sunday when one of his horses came home without him that family members were concerned.

"He's apparently allergic to bees," said Lt. Rob Hall with the Lyon County Sheriff's Office. "There are a lot of bees out this year. Usually, he's pretty competent, and for him to not return is very concerning to them."

On Monday, search and rescue crews spent all day looking for Olivas-Antillon, and Lt. Hall says it was a difficult search because of the surrounding environment.

"There's a lot of sagebrush andfoliagee," he said. "So, it's hard to move around."

Crews were able to find the second horse tethered to a post. Then, deputies say a man's body was found that's believed to be Olivas-Antillon.

But, it's important to note, the official identity of the body will not be released until positive identification has been made by family members and the Medical Examiner's Office.

The case is ongoing, and if you know anything about Mark's disappearance or the body found today, you're being asked to call the Lyon County Sheriff's Office at (775) 463-6620.
