Truckee, California Police say they arrested a man Thursday night after a K-9 found 38 pounds of processed marijuana inside his vehicle after a traffic stop.

Police say California Highway Patrol conducted a traffic stop on a grey Dodge Charger for an observed vehicle code violation on eastbound Interstate 80 near the Central Truckee off ramp. While speaking to the violator, authorities say the officer observed several indications of possible narcotics trafficking.

Truckee Police K-9 Trax and his handler responded to the location and began an investigation. Police say the ensuing search resulted in several cardboard boxes and two large plastic containers that yielded 31 heat sealed plastic packages of processed marijuana.

Police say the estimated street value was over $100,000.

The driver, 52-year-old Eric Draffen of New York, was booked into the Nevada County Jail on three felony counts of narcotics trafficking, and possession for sales.
