Businesses Ready for Hot Weather

Posted: Updated:
With temperatures expected to reach triple digits next week, area businesses are stocked up with merchandise that is ready to keep you cool.

“Anything that has anything to do with cooling you down, the sales start to pick up,” said Ed Walker with Home Depot. “This weekend will be fast and furious over here.”

He says that when temperatures get hot, it usually means it is their busiest time of the season. At the Home Depot, they have brought it extra merchandise, including air conditioners, swamp coolers, and even misters just to be ready for next week’s hot stretch.

Experts say swamp coolers make the most economical sense because they don’t take a lot of energy to run, and they can get the job done.

“By far the best choice from an economic stand point is the swamp cooler versus air conditioning,” said Tim Carter with Carter Bros. Ace Hardware in central Reno. “If you have the A/C, it is okay, but it’s more expensive to run.”

Walker recommends buying soon because supplies could run out. He says they don’t plan on ordering anymore because they will soon get winter merchandise.
