Pro Watercross racing returns to the Sparks Marina Park June 28-29 with the ninth annual US Open of Watercross. As a safety measure, portions of the Sparks Marina will be closed during the event as the watercraft can top speeds of 80 miles per hour. The dog park located on the south side of the Marina will be closed to the public on Friday, June 27 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, June 28 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sunday, June 29 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Additionally, use of paddling or sailing crafts will be restricted to the North side of the lake (close to the swim beach) during the racing portion of the event.

About the Event
The US Open of Watercross event travels from coast to coast bringing the best watercross riders throughout the USA and drawing competitors from all over the world, including Indonesia, Columbia, Kuwait, and South Africa. These competitors will be vying for the prestigious title of the Sparks US Open of Watercross Champion and winning means earning a place in watercross history. This internationally recognized competition will be one of the highest paid events in the country. Event hours are 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day with pro racing from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

In addition to the pro racing, this year competitors will be competing against one another to set a new Guinness World Record for the "most consecutive back flips on a personal watercraft" at 7 p.m. on Saturday, June 28 at the Spark Marina Park.
