Sparks Police say they’ve arrested a man after he exposed himself to a woman and tried to lure a young girl into his Ford Explorer.

Investigators say 30-year-old Douglas Benson Jones exposed himself to a woman after asking for directions in front of her Shadow Lane area home on April 17th. The woman got his SUV license plate before he drove away.

Less than a week later, police say Jones tried to lure a 12-year-old girl inside the sam SUV after asking her for directions. The girl refused, and he drove off again.

No one was hurt during the incidents.

On June 25, police say Jones was placed under surveillance by detectives of the Sparks Police Department after he left work that morning. Detectives followed him as he drove through the parking lots of Reed High School and Smith’s, both twice. They say he didn’t contact anyone during the surveillance and was subsequently stopped and arrested after 40 minutes.

Jones was booked into the Washoe County Jail on one count of indecent exposure and luring a child. His bail was set at $5,000.

The suspect vehicle is described as 1996 Ford Explorer Nevada license MA5ON, green over tan in color.
