Storey County Assessor's Office Sending Out New Exemption Vouchers

Posted: Updated:
 From Storey County:

The Storey County Assessor’s Office is now sending out 2014-15 exemption vouchers for motor vehicle taxes in a new format to all qualifying individuals who have applied and returned renewal cards.

If you currently receive a Veteran’s, disabled Veteran’s, surviving spouse’s or blind person’s exemption on vehicle registrations, and have returned the 2014-15 renewal card, a letter will be sent to you from Storey County Assessor’s Office that prominently states: “YOUR 2014-15 EXEMPTION VOUCHER IS ENCLOSED.” Take or mail the new form to DMV or the Assessor’s Office at the time of registration for vehicles and/or trailers in order to use available funds. For exemptions used on your property taxes, a voucher will not be received.

The new form is now being used in place of the exemption voucher mailers received previously. Storey County Assessor Jana Seddon has determined that making this change will result in a significant savings of time, resources and Storey County taxpayer money.

The Assessor and staff encourage customers to call or email the Storey County Assessor’s Office with any questions about the new exemption voucher forms, or to inquire about applying for a new exemption and the different ways it can be used. Additionally, customers who have not returned an exemption renewal card for the 2014-15 year, please do so as soon as possible in order to receive a new voucher.
