Reno police have identified the woman killed at a motel on East 4th Street earlier this month.

Police say 59-year-old Carolyn Jo Smith died during a domestic disturbance at the Lucky Motel on June 15, 2014.

Police say when they arrived, they were met by the suspect, 61-year-old Zollie Dumas, who reported he killed Smith. At that time, he surrendered to authorities on a parole violation.

On June 17th, Dumas was charged with open murder with a deadly weapon.

The Associated Press reports Dumas was previously convicted of fatally stabbing a Henderson woman in 1988 and had been out on parole.
