The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office says a man shot in Spanish Springs earlier this month has died of his injuries.

Deputies say the victim was identified as 45-year-old Jeffrey James Montgomery of Spanish Springs.

Deputies say a preliminary investigation indicates Montgomery’s death was a homicide and that the cause of death was multiple gunshot wounds. The Sheriff’s Office is awaiting the completed reports from the Washoe County Medical Examiner.

The suspect in the shooting, Montgomery's son, 19-year-old Brandon Moore-Montgomery, surrendered to authorities on June 14th. At that time, he was arrested on charges of attempted murder and use of a deadly weapon; he’s now charged with open murder.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information about this case is asked to contact the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office Detective Division at (775) 328-3320, or Secret Witness at (775) 322-4900.
