Things 2 Do This Weekend

It’s Reno Rodeo Weekend and there will be celebrations going all weekend. From the BBQ, Brews & Blues that will take over downtown Reno, to the Reno Rodeo Parade Saturday morning and the intense competition at the Livestock Events Center. But this is a big weekend for the outlying areas as well. There is a Water Festival in Snake Valley in Baker; the Oodles of Noodles Event in Dayton and Carson City will be holding its Taste of Downtown. Enjoy!

Friday 6/20

'Together We Can Solve Hunger' Food Bank Concert, Bartley Ranch

The Food Bank of Northern Nevada is holding its annual summer concert to raise money to stamp out hunger. It features the Black Lillies and it’s at the Bartley Ranch Amphitheater. Doors open at 5:30 and our own Jeff Martinez is emceeing.

BBQ, Brews & Blues, Eldorado

Downtown Reno will be celebrating the rodeo with all kinds of BBQ, Brews & Blues this weekend. And that starts tonight. The Eldorado sponsors this event every year and dozens of booths will be set up to offer all kinds of food and drink, while various stages will be hosting live music.

Snake Valley 6th annual Water Festival, Baker

This community event raises money to support community preservation. There will be an ice cream social in front of Baker Hall, and a Great Basin beer tasting at the Border Inn. There will be live music and dancing too.

Reno Rodeo Parade, downtown Reno 10 a.m.

Reno knows rodeo. And every year the Reno Rodeo Parade celebrates the cowboys and cowgirls, the livestock and the supports system. This year’s parade will wind through Reno starting at 10 Saturday morning.

Liam Kyle Cahill unveils new CD

Liam Kyle Cahill is a local acoustic folk rock musician and he’s unveiling his new album called The Key to Happiness this weekend at that Bodega Nightclub. The concert is at 8 pm and he has invited 23 other artists to join him. But it’s really all a fundraiser for his good friend Nikos Theolojitis, a local restaurateur who is battling cancer for the second time. Nikos has run restaurants here for 30 years and this is Cahill’s way of giving back to a man who has given a lot to the community.

Taste of Downtown, Carson City, 5:30-9 pm

Carson City goes all out for help the victims of domestic violence and the local restaurants all get involved. It’s called the Taste of Downtown. And it gives more than two dozen restaurants a chance to show off their specialties and help raise money for the Advocates to End Domestic Violence. It starts at 5:30 Saturday and goes until 9.

Nevada Humanities Chautauqua at Hawkins Amphitheater

The Nevada Humanities celebration of Chautauqua is this week and everyone is invited to see locals take on the personalities of those who made marks on history. The performances are around town but centered at Bartley Ranch. Check their website for times, locations and performers.
