Nevada Unemployment Lowest in Six Years

Posted: Updated:
Numbers released Friday show the Nevada unemployment rate fell to a low we have not seen in nearly six years.

The month of May saw a rate of 7.9%, the first time Nevada has seen a rate below eight percent since 2008. An encouraging sign for people like Senator Harry Reid.

“Today’s report shows that Nevada is on the right track toward a full economic recovery. In order to continue down this path, we must invest in fiscal policies that will ensure job creation, and spark economic activity—like investing in transportation, and other infrastructure projects that will revitalize communities throughout the Silver State."

Nevada added a total of 8,300 jobs, surpassing previous estimations. For Reno-Sparks, the unemployment rate was at 7.4% which is down from this time last year.
