Reno-Tahoe International Airport Repaving to Finish Mid-August

Posted: Updated:
A project to replace concrete on the Reno-Tahoe International Airport's runways is scheduled to be finished by the middle of August.

The airport says the construction is important to do now, so the runways can last for decades longer.

"It was nearing its lifespan. About 20 years of life was already in this runway so we're taking it out piece-by-piece, replacing it and by August 15th we'll be ready for special events season, for the air races and get all of our aircraft in here as safely as possible because safety is always our number one priority," says Brian Kulpin.

The project is paid for by a $7.3 million federal grant. The airport brings an estimated $2 billion in economic impact to our area every year.
