Golfing With Dad on Father's Day

Posted: Updated:
Father’s Day was Sunday and many Northern Nevadans are spending the day with dad. Whether it was fishing at the marina, or hanging out at the Truckee River, or even at the golf course, Dad was the priority.

At Washoe Golf Course, many took advantage of a deal which allowed dad’s to golf for free if they bring along their kids and if there is a paying adult.

“We have about 240 players out here today,” said Jared Becher with Washoe  Golf Course. “ They’re enjoying it. It’s a great day for it. The sun is shining and it’s a great turnout.”

He says on a normal summer Sunday, there are usually 175-200 golfers meaning today was one of the busiest days of the season.

The player’s age nor skill level didn’t matter. Sunday was all about being with dad, players say.

“I taught him everything he knows, but he’s a better golfer,” said Dereck Zeno.

“He taught me everything I know and I’m very thankful for that, but I’m a better golfer by far,” said his son Michael.

“I like this sport because we can do it together,” said Max McReynolds, “unlike football because he cannot play with me. But golf, we can go out and play together which I like.”
