Teen Gets Life Sentence for Deadly Stabbing

We have new information on a deadly stabbing last October.

18-year-old Cesar Aontreras-Armas received a life sentence for the murder of 20-year-old Andrew Amezcua. According to the district attorney's office, he also received time for use of a deadly weapon, and a robbery charge.   

They say last October, Armas, who is a known gang member, stabbed Amezcua and then robbed his girlfriend on Yori Avenue in Reno.

Armas was 17 at the time and on juvenile parole. He will be eligible for parole after 19 years in prison.

    Health officials in El Dorado County are reporting that a bird found in the South Lake Tahoe area has tested positive for West Nile Virus. This is the first case found in the area for 2018. The animal in question was collected on May 7.

    The Regional Gang Unit of the Reno Police Department has arrested a suspect for 165 separate counts of graffiti within the last year. Trevor Gibson, 26, had a warrant issued for his arrest in January.
