The annual Sparks Farmers' market kicked off in Victorian Square Thursday in downtown Sparks.
The farmers market features a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables from across the region, including early tomatoes and corn, along with cherries and fresh greens. "Have fresh, local food is a really big thing. We get a lot of comments about how nice our peaches are, how they taste great, how they're ready to go. So I think people really value eating fresh," says Lindsey Adams of Minton Family Farms.
The market will run every Thursday from 3pm to 8 pm through August 21st (except July 31st) when it will be closed for Hot August Nights.
Starting next week the event will include free hands-on activities for kids.
