Campaign 2014: Reno Mayoral Race, Washoe County, Carson Sheriff

Posted: Updated:
The Washoe County Registrar of Voters reports Tuesday’s total voter turnout was 23.43% for the primary election.

As for some of the more notable races:

For Reno Mayor, Hillary Schieve will face off against Raymond Pezonella in November’s general election.  She told us, “I think we’re just going to stay focused and stay positive. That’s really about who I am and what my campaign is all about. So, I’m really ready and I’m excited.”

Pezonella added, “I’m excited tonight, I can’t believe how far we’ve come since the beginning of the campaign. We’ve come a heck of a long way from an unknown to being up at the top.”

For Washoe County Sheriff, Chuck Allen will face current Washoe County Undersheriff Tim Kuzanek in the General Election.

And for Carson City Sheriff, Ken Furlong will run unopposed in November's election. The incumbent received 60% of the vote last night. Under the Carson City Charter any candidate that receives more than 50% in the primary will be placed on the November ballot unopposed, so Furlong will be guaranteed re-election in November.
