The SPCA of Northern Nevada (SPCA) is offering a free community education class on Wednesday, June 25, 2014, called “Cooking For Your Dog.” The class is taught by longtime local veterinarian, Dr. Elisa Bandelin, from Lakeside Animal Hospital. She will demonstrate how to easily prepare your own dog’s meal, what foods to use and how beneficial home cooking can be. Nutrition can be a confusing topic--what is best for your pet? She will diffuse some myths including -"But isn't dry food best for their teeth?" and "But my vet told me he can't eat from the table!!"
Dr. Bandelin highly encourages feeding your dog as part of the family using home cooked, whole foods for wellness, healing specific diseases, and increasing energy level and vitality. Dr. Bandelin will demonstrate the cooking of two different meals for pets and will discuss how she arrives at the ingredient list, whether to feed cooked or raw, how to balance ingredients, and transitioning to a home cooked diet.
Door prizes include home cooked dog treats and a raffle for a free one-hour individualized food therapy consultation at their new office!
