RGJ: Whittemore Must Report to Prison by Aug. 6 at Noon

Posted: Updated:
Correction:
During Channel 2 News This Morning and Channel 2 News at 11pm last night we inaccurately reported that Mr. Whittemore was to report to jail today, June 6th, at noon. He is to report to federal prison by noon on Wednesday, August 6th.
We apologize for the error.

The Reno-Gazette Journal reports that a federal judge has ordered power-broker Harvey Whittemore to report to prison by noon on August 6th.

Whittemore was convicted of making illegal campaign funds to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and now must serve two years in federal prison.

The paper reports that Whittemore was free on bail while his appeal was being considered, but a related campaign contribution Supreme Court ruling helped sway the U.S. Attorney’s Office to reconsider his case.

The RGJ reports there was no immediate comment from Whittemore’s lawyers.
