Local Creamery to Join Reno Food Truck Scene

Posted: Updated:
Starting this weekend you may notice a newcomer to the food truck team in Reno. It's got just three wheels but it hopes to see some sweet success with sales this year. It's the Icecycle Creamery. And it's a custom-built tricycle equipped with a cedar storage box for ice cream.

"One thing that's so great for us is this is people-powered. We don't need any electricity or gas to keep things cold. We use cryopacks and ice and we do just fine. So our carbon footprint is like zero," says owner Jeremy DeMarzo.

He is making small batches of exotic flavors for sale.

"I make bacon, maple, cheesecake, that is an amazing flavor!" he says. "But I also make pumpkin and sweet potato and chai tea and local honey and I've been using a lot of coconut lately."

While the flavors are ever-changing and pretty exotic, he has an ongoing commitment to local ingredients.

"We use milk from the Sand Hill Dairy in Fallon," he says. "And we use local honey and local products whenever possible. We want to invest in local products so that when you are eating our ice cream you are supporting the community where we live."

The Icecycle Creamery has a Kickstarter Campaign going through Friday for funding. They plan to join the ranks of the Reno Street Food food trucks at Idlewild Park Friday starting June 13th.
