Police: Man Burglarized South Lake Tahoe Marijuana Grow House

Posted: Updated:
South Lake Tahoe Police have arrested a man they say burglarized an illegal marijuana grow house.

Police say on Tuesday they responded to a 911 call indicating a man was breaking into a residence on Bonanza Avenue. Upon arrival, police say they chased the suspect, who was carrying bags of stolen items from the residence. At one point, officers say he tried to pull a gun from his waistband, but lost control of the semi-automatic pistol and was apprehended without any shots fired.

One officer was hurt during the event and later treated at a hospital emergency room. His injuries were not disclosed.

Police say the suspect’s identity is being investigated since he provided false information to police when he was arrested. The suspect is being held on charges of illegal possession of a firearm, armed burglary and robbery.

Police say the house that was burglarized was later eradicated with the help of a task force.

If you have any information on this incident, you’re asked to call Detective Nick Carlquist at 530.542.6133.
