The general manager of Safe Shot indoor shooting range is facing federal charges for allegedly selling gun illegally out of the store.

Federal Agents booked 59-year-old James Harwin after prosecutors say he was caught selling machine guns without doing background checks on the buyers. They say Harwin also altered or removed the serial numbers from those weapons.

Agents took Harwin into custody after posing as buyers and purchasing those guns. During a court preceding Friday, prosecutors said Harwin also had $100,000 in cash on him when he was arrested.

Harwin is the general manager at Safe Shot on Double R boulevard in South Reno. Channel 2 News contacted the range, who tells us they were unaware of the incident until Friday morning.

Harwin is due in court again on Tuesday, June 3rd.
