10 Candidates For Reno Mayor Take Part in Debate Thursday Night

Posted: Updated:
As we get closer to the primary, the race for Reno Mayor continues to heat up as 10 of the candidates participated in a debate Thursday night.

They were picked based on a public vote, social media followers and campaign fundraising. In the first hour, it featured Robert Avery, Marsha Berkbigler, Ray Pezonella, Hillary Schieve and Idora Silver. Then, DeLores Aiazzi, Eddie Lorton, Ian Pasalich, Chuck Reno and Ken Stark were all part of the second hour.

They each touched on important issues to the city like whether they would regionalize or consolidate fire services, whether they support tax breaks to bring in businesses to our area, and what they would do about the $600 million debt.

After the debate, the eight remaining candidates were given a chance to tape statements as to why they should be mayor. Michael Bertrand, Tom Fitzgerald, Erik Holland, Mark Markel and Larry Pizorno participated. According to the Reno Gazette-Journal, Sean Burke and Chad Dehne declined because of a prior commitment, while Brian Fleming did not respond.

Organizers say the full debate will be available soon at:
