No Explosives Found After Hawthorne Bomb Threat

Posted: Updated:
The Mineral County Sheriff tells Channel 2 News no explosives have been found after a "terrorist bomb threat" was made Wednesday afternoon.

The sheriff says a bomb dog from the Fallon Naval Air Station responded to Hawthorne and searched the buildings.

The threat was made to the Mineral County Sheriff's Office building which also houses the jail as well as the district attorney's office which also houses the district court house. The library in Hawthorne was also evacuated along with the west wing of the Mount Grant Hospital.

Authorities say the inmates in the jail were moved to a nearby location but have since been returned to the jail.

The sheriff is calling this a terrorist bomb threat because of the extensive knowledge the person had of the buildings and "events" that happened Wednesday and says they are taking this as a credible threat.
