Wednesday afternoon Reno Police arrested William Douglas Wynn after he barricaded himself inside a downtown hotel room. Wynn is wanted out of Tennessee after he skipped out on a 2012 trial for a vehicular manslaughter charge.

Reno Police say they located Wynn, who was booked under a false identity, at the Riverboat Hotel on Sierra Street in Reno around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday afternoon. They say when they tried to serve a warrant, Wynn barricaded himself in his 2nd floor room. Police say they made contact with Wynn who made threats, indicating he was armed.

Around 3 p.m. the Reno Police Department SWAT and negotiation teams were called in, the second floor of the hotel was evacuated and police closed Sierra street from 2nd to 1st streets during negotiations.

Police say after five hours, negotiations with Wynn were successful and he was taken into custody. He was booked into the Washoe County Jail on a felony warrant and is waiting to be extradited to Tennessee.

According to The Crossville Chronicle newspaper in Tennessee, Wynn was scheduled to appear in court in November of 2012 for a trial on charges stemming from a deadly head-on collision in December of 2010.

Wynn was charged with vehicular homicide by intoxication after a man was killed in the three-car crash in Crossville Tennessee, which is between Nashville and Knoxville.

Tennessee State Troopers reported Wynn was driving a red 2006 Ford Expedition when he crossed the center line of the highway and smashed into another vehicle killing a 79-year-old man and injuring the man's wife. Wynn's SUV also collided with a third vehicle, whose driver was also seriously injured.

The Crossville Chronicle reports that state prosecutors and Wynn's attorney had reached a tentative plea deal in exchange for an eight-year prison sentence and the judge would have determined how that sentence was served.

However, Wynn never appeared for his trial and was on the run, until he was arrested by Reno Police Wednesday afternoon.
