It’s a big weekend for boaters and a big weekend for veterans. There are plenty of events at Lake Tahoe especially on the west shore involving boats, kayaks, and paddleboards. And on Monday there are plenty of ways to show your support for veterans including a pancake breakfast at the Garden Shop Nursery that helps fund Honor Flight Nevada, Memorial Day services in Fernley and a parade through Virginia City. Family Dance Party at the Children’s Museum of Northern Nevada, 5-7:30 pm

This is a family fun weekend event where kids and adults can cut loose and enjoy each other and the family fun that the Children’s Museum has to offer from 5-7:30.

Wally’s World comes to Fernley, the Loneliest Art Collection in Nevada, 2pm

Wally Cuchine’s artwork will be on display at Fernley City Hall starting at 2pm. There will be 35 pieces of his artwork there and he will be on hand for the reception.

Water Politics in Northern Nevada Lecture at Galena Creek Visitor Center

The Great Basin Institute takes on issues from wilderness to the environment. And the politics of water is one that impacts development, wilderness and wildlife. Meet at the Galena Creek Visitors Center.

Nevada Humane Society’s Walk for Animals

Make it a day for Fido. The Nevada Humane Society will offer low-cost vaccines and micro-chipping from 8 a.m. until noon. The actual Walk for Animals starts at 9am.

Virginia City Memorial Day Parade

This little town turns out in big style to celebrate Memorial Day with a parade winding through town on Saturday at noon. It’s called a Celebration of Heroes. And everyone’s invited.

Honor Flight pancake breakfast

This is the second annual Memorial Day Pancake Breakfast for Honor Flight. And the Garden Shop Nursery on Mayberry and McCarran is going all out hosting it. They’ll have pancakes, sausage, coffee and juice to fill your stomach and World War II veterans to chat with. The money raised goes to sending those vets to Washington D.C. to see the memorials built in their honor.
