David Wise to Participate in Role Model Summit Thursday

Posted: Updated:
Two dozen of the world's top athletes in their sport are coming to Reno to help inspire local high school students. They are here for a program called Role Model Summit.
The list includes Olympic gold medalist David Wise. It's something he's glad to be a part of because he believes in helping kids.

"That's the biggest reason for me is just I want to get kids more passionate about being outside, being active, just realizing they can achieve their dreams so ya I'm looking forward to it."

David says local extreme athlete Shane McConkey was his role model growing up.
And I promised David's little girl, Nayelli, I would say hello to her on TV.
The Role Model Summit takes place Thursday at almost every high school in northern Nevada. While the Summit is closed to the public, you can still buy tickets to the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) Banquet Thursday night at the Silver Legacy Grande Exposition Hall at 6:30pm. Tickets are $50 a person and can be bought at the door.
