Thousands of Shoes Donated to Area Children in Need
The Reno Rodeo Foundation donated thousands of pairs of shoes to children in need Thursday afternoon.
The Foundation dropped off clogs from their partnership with Kids Inc. at Libby Booth Elementary Thursday afternoon. Every child at the school in kindergarten through fifth grade got a new pair of waterproof shoes to help with their grow yourself healthy gardening program.
"We know that a lot of kids just don't get new shoes or they get hand me downs so giving somebody something new is truly special gift, and to be able to give new shoes to an entire school is really special," says Marie Baxter, Executive Director, Reno Rodeo Foundation.
Along with Libby Booth Elementary, students at Mariposa and Nanchez Elementary schools were also given new pairs of shoes. In all they distributed 6,000 pairs throughout the community.
