The local V.A. medical center celebrated its 75th anniversary here in northern Nevada on Wednesday.
The morning's ceremony was complete with a flyover by a vintage AH-1 Cobra Attack Helicopter as well as a dedication of a memorial to the global war on terror.
The Ioannis A. Lougaris V.A. Medical Center was founded in 1939 and has expanded significantly since then.
"I've been blessed because they've taken care of my father; I've seen it firsthand how well they take care of them and how dedicated the staff here is and how much they treat them with dignity and honor. I know here and Reno they do the very best and they have my full support," says Nevada Governor Brian Sandoval.
The hospital serves over 32,000 veterans in the northwestern Nevada and the eastern California area.
