Vote on Lake Tahoe Ranch Demolition This Week

Posted: Updated:
A request for a permit to destroy buildings on a historic South Lake Tahoe ranch property will be considered by the city planning commission this week.

Thursday's vote will give the Lake Tahoe Historical Society a chance to meet with the property's owner, the Mosher family.

They will consider options for the property and determine if the buildings can be spared.

The Tahoe Daily Tribune reports buildings on the property include a ranch house and barn that date back to about 1900 and three guesthouses that date back to about 1945. The Barton Ranch property is one of the South Shore's last links to historic cattle ranching operations in the Lake Tahoe Basin.

City officials have previously voiced interest in using the area as a museum or visitor center.
