Mother's Day Creates Good Restaurant and Spa Business

Posted: Updated:
Mother’s Day is the busiest day of the year for many local restaurants and even the spa.

Whether it was a nice mid-morning brunch, or a girls day at the spa, a lot of moms we talked to say they’re enjoying their day.

“She’s always got a good mood and is silly,” said Kayla Snow.

“she always takes care of me and stuff like that and takes me to school which is really nice,” said Daniel Bower.

At the Stone House Café in Reno, hundreds of people came out Sunday for Mother’s Day brunch. It’s their busiest day of the year.

“We always want to beat our sales,” said Cyrina Abowd, general manager of the Stone House Café.” But it’s going to be a lot of numbers. It’s going to be anywhere between 700 and 800 people today.”

That means more staff. This restaurant had a full crew onboard to help. One server also even helps with taking care of the landscape here, which is one reason why the Stone House Café is popular.

Over at the Peppermill, they are also seeing the busiest day of the entire year too, followed by Valentine’s Day and Christmas.

“We’re at full capacity so we have 23 treatment rooms here, we’re a 33,000 square foot operation so we’ve got a lot of guests in,” said Angela Taverner, Director of Spa and Salon at the resort.

“Our daughters gave us a spa treatment so we came here to relax for the day,” said Reno resident Liz Thomas.
