Mono County, California Deputies Arrest Man on DUI Charge

Posted: Updated:
Mono County, California deputies say they’ve arrested a man on a DUI charge after they tried to serve an arrest warrant for multiple previous drunk driving charges.

Deputies say they were trying to contact an individual in the Crowley Lake area on Thursday to serve a felony arrest warrant related to multiple previous drunk driving arrests. They learned he was not there, but had been spotted driving around in the area. At the same time, a 911 call was made about a driver heading south on Highway 395 near Ed Powers Road. The caller said the driver was weaving his vehicle on the roadway.

Deputies say the suspect vehicle was spotted heading the wrong direction on a one-way street near North Main Street in Bishop, California. Deputies made a felony traffic stop and arrested the driver, 52-year-old Daniel Maddock of Crowley Lake, on both the felony arrest warrant and for driving under the influence.

Deputies say Maddock was booked into the Inyo County Jail in Independence on $250,000 bail secondary to information he may have been fleeing the area in order to avoid prosecution.
