Reno Elementary Students Help Make Playground a Reality
Students at Roger Corbett Elementary got a brand new playground for their school Thursday afternoon.
Two years ago students who were in third grade at the time wrote a letter and a petition to Mayor Bob Cashell asking for help. He and the city council identified $245,000 in funds to rehabilitate the kindergarten playground as well as improve the field and basketball courts.
Today the kids said it was satisfying to be able to see the results of their work finally a reality.
"I think that it's a big lesson for us and my friends because it's going to show us just how just by writing a letter we can make a huge difference for our school," says Ashley Rodrigues.
In addition to helping the school, the new playground also serves as a park for children living near the school.
