From Galena Lacrosse Club:

High Sierra Lacrosse League (HSLL) Championships will be contested Friday, May 9 at the Galena High School Stadium at  3600 Butch Cassidy Dr, Reno, Nevada.  The Varsity Girls Championship game is at 5 pm and the Varsity Boys Championship game follows at 7pm. The winners will represent Northern Nevada in the State Championships to be held in Las Vegas on May 24-25, 2014.

This year, the top two girls and boys teams will face the top teams from the Southern Nevada Lacrosse Association for the first High School Lacrosse State Championship Games. Lead by volunteer coaches and hoping to be recognized as a sanctioned high school team sport, High School Club Lacrosse has a growing following in Northern Nevada. Recent games have hosted audiences rivaling football games, and the number of participants has grown steadily over the past few years. Galena’s roster has over 40 players, and also boasts the first player out of Northern Nevada to be drafted to play NCAA lacrosse.

Cody Agrella will be the first lacrosse player graduating from a Reno/Tahoe area high school to play lacrosse at an NCAA institution. Cody is a 6'1 205lb senior defenseman on the Galena Varsity Boy's Lacrosse Club Team. He is a four-year, multi-sport athlete for Galena who most recently finished out his senior year as a varsity defensive end on the Galena football team. Cody has been a varsity defenseman on the lacrosse team since 2012 and has been awarded with HSLL 1st-team All-League honors each year: 2012 1st-Team All-League LSM; 2013 1st Team All-League Defense; 2014 TBA (likely 1st-Team All-League Defense). Cody is a 2014 team captain and maintains 4.3 weighted GPA. He has signed a National Letter of Intent to play lacrosse at the NCAA-level in North Carolina at Belmont Abbey. Cody's parents Kevin and Alicia, and his sister, Ashley (also a lacrosse player) have been great supporters of the Galena Lacrosse Club Program.
