Local Businesses Enjoy Cinco de Mayo Business

Cinco de Mayo may have fallen on a weekday this year, but many local businesses still had a great night.

We went to Cantina Los Tres Hombres in Sparks, Bertha Miranda's and Chuy's Mexican Kitchen in Reno. It was packed at each of those places. A lot of people came out for some traditional food, and maybe a margarita or two, but the owners weren't complaining!

"This is our kickoff to summertime for us," said Jaime Marin, Cantina Los Tres Hombres General Manager. "It's our first busy day of the year."

A lot of people waited to get a table at Bertha Miranda's for their specials, like three kinds of homemade molé.

"Made by Bertha, which has more than 101 ingredients, all handmade, all made here," said Simon Garcia, a server.

"Bertha Miranda's also made the celebration extra festive with a mariachi band and dancers.

In Midtown Reno, Chuy's was another place to be. The line was pretty much out the door when we showed up.

"Since we opened our doors at 11 o'clock, it's just been great," said Jesus Gutierrez, co-owner of Chuy's. "They know there is a waiting list, but you know what? Everybody's happy, having a good time!"
